Ramsbottom (BL0) and Tottington (BL8) contain a large number of stone-fronted terraces where drainage runs through the cellar and the original cast-iron soil stack is often still in place. We frequently replace these with PVC-U SuperFLO stacks and rework the internal ventilation. Prestwich and Whitefield (M25, M45) are dominated by 1930s three-bedroom semis with hot water cylinders in the airing cupboard; when replacing these we usually recommend an unvented cylinder or a well-sized combi rather than another vented setup. Radcliffe (M26) has significant post-war housing where the original copper microbore has started to fail at push-fit joints under laminate flooring — a slow-drip pattern that shows up as damp on the ceiling below.
