Don't ignore CO alarms
If the alarm is going off, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999. Then follow up with KJ afterwards.

Pressure drop
System has lost pressure through a slow leak. Boiler locks out. Top-up loop to 1.0–1.5 bar cold, then investigate the leak later.
Thermostat / smart-stat offline
Nest / Hive / Tado lost Wi-Fi, or batteries died. Boiler is fine but never gets asked to fire. Check the app first.
Timer / schedule wrong
Clocks changed, holiday mode left on, new schedule uploaded and never checked. Push manual boost first to confirm the boiler works.
Pump seized after long idle
Rare in an occupied house, common after a week away. Boiler fires but no water moves — you'll hear the boiler but radiators stay stone cold.
